Infrastructure

Infrastructure is the foundation of our community, and reliable, well-maintained systems are critical to Carstairs’ success. My priority is to continue investing wisely in infrastructure that supports residents today while strengthening our community for tomorrow. This includes ensuring developers contribute their fair share, supporting growth through strong asset planning, preventative maintenance, and keeping Carstairs competitive. A clear focus on planning and data-driven decisions positions our community for sustainable growth and future service needs.

Municipal Taxes

I believe in being fiscally conservative while delivering the quality of services residents expect and deserve. My focus is on advocating for better representation when costs are downloaded onto municipalities, pushing for fairer funding models from the province, actively pursuing grants, and diversifying our tax base through greater commercial and industrial investment. This approach will ease the burden on residents, strengthen our local economy, and build a more sustainable community. There is only one taxpayer, and I remain committed to identifying efficiencies, respecting every dollar, and ensuring Carstairs is well positioned for the future.

Seniors Housing

Seniors are the foundation of our community, and ensuring they can age in place with dignity is a top priority. I have had the privilege of serving on the Mountain View Seniors’ Housing Board, most recently as Vice Chair, where I advocated directly with the provincial ministry responsible for seniors. I developed an advocacy document highlighting our growing seniors’ population and the housing required to support them, using studies to guide data-driven decisions. My commitment is to continue advancing opportunities that allow seniors to remain in the community they have long called home, with access to the housing and care they deserve.

Support Local

Carstairs’ location along the QEII corridor gives us a tremendous advantage for opportunity. A strong local economy means more jobs close to home, support for local businesses, and a more balanced tax base that eases the burden on residents. By leveraging our location, attracting commercial and industrial investment, and supporting local enterprise, we can create the right conditions for sustained growth. This will lead to more employment opportunities, so families can stay rooted in Carstairs. My priority is to build a balanced economy that keeps dollars local, creates opportunity, and strengthens our community for the long term.

Policing

Policing is vital to the safety and well-being of all residents. During my time on Council, we undertook a grant-funded policing study to identify the best model for our community. As Carstairs continues to grow and we have now surpassed a population of 5,000 people, it is important that we remain on the path toward establishing a policing model that protects our residents and strengthens our community. My priority is to ensure Carstairs has effective, responsive policing that meets the needs of a growing town while making the best use of available resources.

Advocacy

Advocacy is essential to ensuring Carstairs is not overlooked. I will always put our community first, whether it’s working with regional partners, the province, or the federal government. Carstairs deserves a strong voice at the table, and I bring experience leading discussions from senior management boardrooms to grassroots operations. I communicate effectively, engage openly, and clearly convey the importance of the issues that matter to our community. From advocating for a new school, to expanding seniors’ housing, to securing grants and funding, effective advocacy is about telling Carstairs’ story and making sure we continue to grow and thrive. My priority is to keep our community’s voice strong and ensure we receive the attention and support we need

Growth

Growth is an important part of Carstairs’ future, but I recognize the concerns that come with it. Preserving our small-town roots and the sense of community that make Carstairs special must remain a priority. As one of the fastest-growing communities in Alberta, it is vital that our decisions are guided by accurate data. My priority is to manage growth responsibly, by building the infrastructure and housing mix needed to support residents at every stage of life, while ensuring Carstairs stays true to the small-town values that brought us here.

Recreation

Recreation is vital to building a strong and vibrant community. Quality recreation opportunities enhance quality of life, keep families rooted in Carstairs, support our local economy, and add to the vibrancy of our town. As our community grows, we must continue identifying ways to strengthen facilities, programs, and partnerships that meet residents’ needs. My priority is to ensure Carstairs invests wisely in recreation that provides lasting benefits for people of all ages.
